The objective was to present two cases of erosive oral lichen planus (OLP). In Case 1, a 79-year-old female patient, who complained of pain, presented with an erythroleukoplakia lesion on the dorsum of the tongue, which included areas of ulceration and had been evolving for 6 months. An incisional biopsy initially revealed hyperparakeratosis and mononuclear cell infiltration. After a six-month follow-up, worsening clinical symptoms prompted a second biopsy, which showed significant inflammation consistent with erosive OLP. Treatment with topical clobetasol propionate effectively managed the symptoms, leading to the definitive diagnosis of erosive OLP. In Case 2, a 59-year-old male patient with no pain exhibited erosive lesions on the bilateral buccal mucosa and tongue, characterized by white striae plaques. Exfoliative cytology ruled out malignancy but indicated a secondary fungal infection. Treatment with topical clobetasol propionate also proved effective, and the final diagnosis was erosive OLP. Both patients are currently under continued medical supervision. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
