Abstrakt: This article discusses a case of a 17-year-old female dancer who presented with lateral ankle pain following an inversion injury. The patient was diagnosed with posterior ankle impingement (PAI) secondary to a low-lying flexor hallucis longus (FHL) muscle. Ultrasound examination revealed a low-lying FHL muscle belly extending beyond the posterior tibiotalar and subtalar joints. The patient was treated with a diagnostic and therapeutic injection into the FHL tendon sheath, followed by physical therapy. The article highlights the importance of recognizing this anatomical anomaly and the effectiveness of ultrasound in diagnosis and treatment. [Extracted from the article]
