Abstrakt: The proliferation of gender discrimination and sexual harassment in the workplace, including at history organizations, continues to make headlines across the United States. We as a field are dedicated to preserving and interpreting honest, whole history that recognizes the injustices of the past, but we are also charged with making sure our institutions are equitable spaces where all people are respected in the present. Harassment and discrimination can cause irreparable damage to history institutions including financial losses due to lawsuits, lost reputations in the community and with donors, high staff turnover, and organizational instability. History organizations are also harmed when dedicated professionals are forced out by these issues, draining the institutional talent pool and robbing the field of valuable voices.
