This article explores a rare macular disease called adult-onset foveomacular vitelliform dystrophy (AOFVD). It discusses the characteristics of AOFVD, such as subretinal lesions in the fovea or perifovea that can cause blurred vision. The article highlights the use of imaging techniques like optical coherence tomography (OCT) and fundus autofluorescence (FAF) to confirm the diagnosis. Treatment options for AOFVD, including anti-vascular-endothelial-growth-factor (anti-VEGF) injections, are also discussed. The article emphasizes the importance of considering alternative diagnoses to age-related macular degeneration (AMD) when encountering abnormal macular findings. Additionally, it mentions the need to differentiate AOFVD from other similar conditions. [Extracted from the article] |
