1. This experiment has shown that seed yields of cocksfoot are appreciably influenced by the use of nitrogenous fertilizers. 2. The use of early autumn (preferably late summer) applications of nitrogen in combination with a spring application has proved most beneficial. Time of spring application seems to have little bearing on ultimate seed yield, though late dressings make harvesting difficult. 3. Straw yields follow the same trend as the seed yields. 4. Seed weights are increased by nitrogenous manuring. 5. Nitrogenous manures did not influence the germinating capacity of the seed harvested. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
