Abstrakt: Mason Kamana Allred's book, "Seeing Things: Technologies of Vision and the Making of Mormonism," explores the role of nonhuman and supernatural worlds in the formation of Mormon religious identities. Allred argues that Mormons are shaped by their ability to see things, and he introduces new critical idioms and terms to the study of Latter-day Saints. The book examines various technologies of vision, such as print media, panoramas, typewriters, cameras, films, microphotography, and television, and how they influenced Mormon beliefs and practices. Allred emphasizes the interconnectedness of materiality and meaning, and he asserts that Mormonism cannot be understood without considering its relationship with media. [Extracted from the article]
