Abstrakt: A recent report from the University of Puerto Rico discusses a pilot study on mild cognitive impairment (MCI) among older adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The study aims to estimate the proportion of MCI and describe its sociodemographic, clinical, psychosocial, and lifestyle characteristics in this population. The researchers will collect data through face-to-face interviews using validated questionnaires and assess MCI using the Spanish-language version of the Montreal Cognitive Assessment. The study hopes to provide insights into MCI risk factors among adults with T2DM in Puerto Rico, which has a higher prevalence of T2DM compared to non-Hispanic White populations in the US.
