This article discusses the issue of international legitimacy and its impact on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It argues that historically, colonized nations that have won the legitimacy war have also won their freedom, and Palestine is unlikely to be an exception. The article criticizes the unequal structure of the United Nations, which gives veto power to a few powerful countries, and highlights the growing international consensus around the importance of international and humanitarian laws. It also criticizes the United States for its use of various international institutions to rationalize its actions in conflicts around the world. The article concludes that military might and economic influence alone are not enough for a country to acquire and sustain legitimacy, and that international law should be used to end wars, not prolong them.
