The article explores the limits of cognitive warfare, specifically the use of information to influence an opponent's thinking processes. It discusses the concept of the Cognitive Indirect Approach and provides examples of how it has been used, such as Russia's text campaign against Ukraine. The article challenges the assumption that humans are easily manipulated and highlights the complexity of human cognition. It suggests that information campaigns should focus on reinforcing or degrading existing beliefs rather than trying to change attitudes completely. The article concludes that while information warfare can be a part of military strategy, it is not a guaranteed means of achieving objectives without physical conflict. [Extracted from the article] |
