Family-centered care (FCC) is a partnership approach to health care between the family and health care providers (HCP) that is respectful of and responsive to individuals and their families. It has been advocated as the standard of care in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) worldwide; however, the implementation of FCC is inconsistent. This presentation introduces a mixed methods study, which aimed to describe family members' and HCPs' perceptions about interprofessional collaborative FCC in NICUs during the pandemic and identify facilitators and barriers influencing the implementation of FCC in NICUs. First, we observed FCC in five clinical sites. Based on identified gaps, we developed two knowledge dissemination products, including artwork highlighting the importance of FCC and a pamphlet introducing the evidence- based FCC. Second, we distributed online surveys to interprofessional HCPs and received 437 responses. The survey identified significant perception differences between family members and HCPs. Last, we conducted 27 interprofessional individual interviews using Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR). Forty-one implementation determinants across five domains and 25 CFIR constructs were identified. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
