Abstrakt: The rapid development of technology, shortages of nursing faculty, limited clinical space and a complex healthcare setting require nursing educators to create a transformative teaching strategy that actively engages nursing students in clinical experiences helping them critically think and develop sound clinical judgment. To address this challenge and bridge the gap between class and clinical, VR experiences are designed to progress the user from novice to proficient. Three scenarios were created using one client case that unfolds over time. The objectives for each scenario vary based on level and learning needs. Junior students provided feedback indicating VR experience helps apply knowledge to clinical (38) and enables safe practice (33). Students stated VR is realistic, better hands-on experience than other simulations, resembles the hospital setting, and is highly immersive. VR will enable students to understand various concepts by engaging in scenarios that allow them to experience real-world domains. VR offers a safe, effective educational strategy, strengthens communication skills, prepares students for NCLEX success, better prepares nurses post-graduation positioning them for long-term success and positive client outcomes.
