Issue: In 2020, many health professions programs offered lectures/clinical rotations remotely due to COVID. Many clinical medical dosimetrists began to work in a remote or hybrid setting. Medical dosimetry students learn from mentors in this remote clinical environment. The purpose of the study was to investigate the perspective of medical dosimetry mentors about the effectiveness of virtual clinical education. Method: The Medical Dosimetry Mentor Perspective on Virtual Clinical Education (MedDos_VCE) survey measures mentors' perceptions of the students' virtual clinical experience during the pandemic. The subject of the descriptive survey was the current and former clinical instructors of US medical dosimetry programs who taught in programs since March 2020. Outcomes: Medical dosimetry mentors in remote clinical education were asked about 1) their assessment of instructional quality in remote clinical education; 2) quality of interaction between students/mentors; and 3) suggestions for success from medical dosimetry mentors for students and other mentors participating in virtual clinical education. Conclusion: The MedDos_VCE data will contribute to the quality of virtual clinical education during or after the pandemic. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
