This article focuses on a case study of a patient suffering from partial deletion of the short arm of a chromosome. The chromosomes were examined in two independent cultures of peripheral blood and in one fibroblast culture from a skin biopsy of the left shoulder. Despite the difficulty, on morphological grounds alone, of distinguishing with certainty between the chromosomes of the 4-5 group, eighteen cases have now been recorded in which partial deletion of the short arm of a No. 5 chromosome is thought to have occurred. |
