The Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) in India successfully implemented a public-private partnership (PPP) to construct a metro rail system in Hyderabad. The project aimed to address congestion and pollution while providing affordable and convenient public transportation options. The HMRL team faced challenges in acquiring land, but navigated diverse interests and managed stakeholders effectively. They engaged with farmers, addressed religious and caste-based issues, shaped public opinion through media campaigns, and engaged in political lobbying. The project's success can be attributed to the team's stakeholder mindset, equitable distribution of benefits, and prioritization of the common good. [Extracted from the article] |
