A recent study conducted in Rohtak, a district in the North Indian state of Haryana, aimed to assess the availability of essential antimicrobials in public, private, and other sector pharmacies. The researchers found that most of the surveyed antimicrobials were readily available, except for a few specific drugs. The limited availability of these drugs was attributed to factors such as low demand, lack of prescriptions, and their exclusion from the state's essential medicine list. The study highlights the need for further research to improve the availability of essential antimicrobials, especially antibiotics, in India and other lower-middle-income countries.
