The article discusses a case study of a patient with presumptive Y/15 translocation and mental retardation in a family with a case of Klinefelter's syndrome. A mentally retarded male with Klinefelter's syndrome and presumptive Y/15 translocation has been studied. The translocation was also found in some of his near relatives, but there was no evidence of any connection between the translocation and the mental retardation, which was found as a dominant trait in the family. The chromosome abnormality with double X and presumptive double long arms of a Y chromosome found in the propositus may not have any causal relation to his mental retardation, which was very similar to that of some of his sibs with normal karyotype. |
