The Ekko residential block is located in the Bastide Niel eco-district in Bordeaux and consists of 49 apartments. The design of the block incorporates sustainable and innovative elements, such as a vertical garden with floating trees under one roof. The architect, Duncan Lewis, aimed to create a building that responds to the climate and ecological emergency, as well as the social needs of urban housing. The project utilizes bio-based materials, a "cool roof" with white glazed tiles, and a façade with terracotta shingles to reflect sunlight and keep surfaces cool. The building also features a three-dimensional common garden that improves comfort, regulates environmental impact, and provides a connection with nature. [Extracted from the article] |
