The article presents a study carried out in Bristol, England in which researchers collected statistical information about present numbers of mentally handicapped persons and their characteristics. The prevalence of mental subnormality in the city was studied as at January 1,1969. In the study, those people were included who were mentally subnormal persons in community care who were resident within the city boundary, together with those whose last recorded home address was within the city and who were long stay patients in mental subnormality hospitals. |
