Abstrakt: The article discusses about a case of nonketotic hyperglycinaemia (NKHG) in a newborn twin. Identical male twins were born after an uncomplicated, full-term pregnancy to a twenty-year-old Gravida I Para O mother. Post-partum they appeared to be in good condition, but increasing lethargy, poor suck, and decreasing responsiveness were observed in the first few days of life, which prompted the referral to a tertiary care centre. After the diagnosis of NKHG was established, treatment with strychnine was begun during the third week of life. Because of their profound retardation, and since no noticeable developmental progress was observed, it was attempted to investigate possible synergistic effects of several pharmacologic agents known to modify the dismal developmental course.
