Abstrakt: Distributed grids offer numerous benefits, including improved reliability, enhanced safety, increased grid stability, reduced energy losses, environmental sustainability, and economic advantages. Energy storage is crucial in a distributed grid system to ensure the reliable integration of variable renewable sources, balance supply and demand, enhance grid stability and resilience, facilitate demand management, and provide ancillary services to the grid. It plays a vital role in optimizing the performance and efficiency of a distributed grid. There are various types of batteries designed to meet specific power and duration requirements for energy storage applications. The paper aims to present the main criteria to select the proper batteries for particular applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
