Jatin Ambegaonkar, a professor at George Mason University, is conducting a study on the physical and mental workload and recovery of collegiate dancers. The study aims to assess the objective physical activity demands and sleep quality of collegiate dance majors using wearable biosensors, as well as examine their subjective self-reported perceptions of workload, fatigue, and sleep. The findings of this study could help improve access to healthcare for dancers, reduce injury risk, and enhance performance in this underserved population. The project is being funded by the Virginia Athletic Trainers' Association and will run from September 2023 to late August 2024. [Extracted from the article] |
