Abstrakt: Gordon Stirling was an Australian Churches of Christ leader, minister, educator, and writer who edited the Churches of Christ journal, the Australian Christian, between 1979 and 1987. His fortnightly column, Page 13, wrestled with issues of Christian faith through the prism of (Stone-Campbell) Restoration Movement identity in Stirling's own Australian context and time. This article explores Stirling's theologically explorative expression of christological good news in unexpected places: amidst common human life and its vicissitudes, as symbolised by Page 13. We particularly note Stirling's emphasis on the nuances of theological language within the context of Churches of Christ in Australia. Page 13 is read against the backdrop of Restoration Movement beginnings, the theological language work of Gerhard Ebeling, and the impetus to distinctive Australian theological expression during Stirling's time.
