The third-generation's Indian writings in English have enlightened the literature with its quality and vividness. The third-generation writers have concentrated their themes around sociological, diaspora elements, feminine subjects, science and technologies, explorative writings, and much more. Love is the major theme of these writers. Vikram Seth is one of the important third generation Indian writers in English. His novel An Equal Music received the 1999 Crossword Book Award for Fiction. The story revolves around Michael, a professional violinist, and his love, Julia, a pianist. As the novel is not only about the love between Michael and Julia but also about the profession of Musician, it has been well received by musical fans, and appreciated for the accuracy of Vikram Seth's descriptions of music. It throws lights on Michael Holme's love for Music. Seth handles the theme of love and music very skillfully in the novel.
