Abstrakt: The article presents a guide to the life and works of author Shirley Jackson. Born Shirley Hardie Jackson on December 14, 1919, in San Francisco, California, oldest child of Leslie Jackson, a businessman and Gertrude Bugbee Jackson. She attended the University of Rochester from 1934 to 1936 where she then decided to leave college and spend the next year teaching herself to write. She published her first novel The Road Through the Wall in 1948 and her second family chronicle Raising Demons in 1957. She died of heart failure on August 8, 1965.
