The article discusses about seniority pay in relation to the general practitioners (GP). It states that Great Britain's new General Medical Services is bolstering practice profits, but has made it more difficult to check you have received the correct National Health Service (NHS) income. Seniority pay is a case in point. When practice profits for 2004/05 are known, one's seniority pay may be adjusted. This is because, from April 1 2004, entitlement is linked to one's NHS pensionable profit. Under the old system, seniority pay was at the full rate for full-time principals, while part-timers got proportionately less. Each GP submitted a statement of minimum availability to the practice.
