Born August 5, 1889, the oldest child of Dr. William Ford and Anna Potter Aiken in Savannah, Georgia; 1901 Conrad's father kills his wife and then turns the gun on himself; Conrad, age eleven, discovers the murder-suicide; Aiken's younger sister and two brothers are adopted by a family in Philadelphia and Conrad goes to live in New Bedford, Massachusetts with relatives; 1903 enters Middlesex school in Concord, Massachusetts; 1907 enters Harvard University. |
