This article reports on the appeal of the European Game Developers Federation (EGDF) to the government for financial support for regional game development. The EGDF that increased industry consolidation, high development costs, and intense market competition hinders game developers to make culturally unique video games. EGDF board member Fred Hasson suggested that government intervention is needed for the industry to grow. States in the U.S. offer tax incentives to game developers where EGDF hope for similar initiatives be undertaken. |
