Abstrakt: This book is about the soft issues of organization. Nonetheless, Jill Janov(Jill Janov)&x2019; s detailed definition of the functions of the inventive organization, which so aptly differentiates it from those that are fixed or adaptive, and her discussion of the acts of leading and following versus the roles of leader and follower, represent concrete conceptual breakthroughs for those who need practical how-to guidelines. Dealing with the discomfort of change can move people and organizations in one of two directions: Either they become afraid and revert to denial, which leads to maintaining the status quo, or they see other possibilities that move them into invention and ultimately into renewal. Although Janov writes with the exhilarating energy of free-flowing thought and in the intimate third person plural, she provides an authoritative examination of a philosophy of organization, rich in meticulously crafted details and well-articulated, appropriately documented concepts. And, in spite of the fact that each chapter is full to the brim with ideas, examples, case studies, analyses, etc., the chapters are well-organized, integrated, and clearly presented.
