Abstrakt: This article focuses on the Hispanic American performers who made an impact on network television in the U.S. In the early days of television, few minorities were seen in featured roles. Latino characters made occasional appearances on situation comedies (sitcoms), typically as gardeners or as some other type of domestic help. Prejudice and stereotyping was evident on the small screen. One of the few exceptions was Desi Arnaz who played Ricky Ricardo, the Cuban-born bandleader husband of Lucille Ball on one of television's all-time most popular shows, I Love Lucy.
