Abstrakt: The article focuses on the environmental movement in Malaysia by Malaysian environmental non-governmental organizations (MENGOs) . NGOs have begun to work with local governments and business to promote environmentally sound development. Some (MENGOs) are working with communities impacted by environmental degradation and destruction. Besides public awareness work environmental NGOs have organized major conferences bringing together international speakers, local researchers, government officials and members of civil society to address key subjects. Issues addressed by MENGOs cover a wide range of special areas, including environmental professionalism, ethical practices, advocacy, improving environmental quality, community participation, environmental education and awareness, conservation of special ecosystems, sustainable agricultural practices and wildlife trade monitoring. MENGOs have to operate within a prescribed legal framework. They may be established in Malaysia as societies, trust funds, companies, organized local communities or any other legally constituted not-for profit organizations.
