Abstrakt: | Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the long-standing issue of nurse shortage. Aim: This study investigated how newly graduated nurses with less than three years of working experience perceived their working conditions during the initial phase of the pandemic, and how this impacted their sense of calling and turnover intentions. Method: Cross-sectional survey among 1,318 nurses in Denmark. Descriptive, correlation and factor analyses were performed, and logistic regression models were used to analyse the data. Results: Two fifths of the newly graduated nurses reported increased concerns regarding working conditions, while 8% reported that COVID-19 had strengthened their desire to work as a nurse. More than every fourth newly graduated nurse had turnover intentions. Conclusion: Turnover intentions were associated with seniority, working part time, working pressure concerns. In contrast, newly graduated nurses who reported that COVID-19 had strengthened their sense of calling were less likely have turnover intentions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
