An editorial is presented on the evolution of plaque hypotheses over the years and explores various terms and concepts related to the sticky mass of bacteria found around teeth. It discusses the historical progression of plaque hypotheses, from non-specific plaque and specific plaque hypotheses to the ecological plaque hypothesis and keystone pathogen hypothesis, highlighting the current understanding of dysbiosis and its role in oral diseases. |
