Abstrakt: Investigates the role of the sequence diversity of the C-terminal segment of the GroEL equatorial domain using GroEL from psychrophylic, mesophilic, and thermophilic bacteria. Construction of chimeric GroELs to show that the C-terminal segment governs the different active temperatures of GroE from Pseudoalteromomas sp. PS1M3, Escherichia coli, and Thermus sp. TB1; Identification of the amino acid residues of E. coli GroEL by site-directed mutagenesis and surface plasmon resonance; Cold-adaptation of E. coli harboring a psychrophilic groEL gene.
