The article focuses on the Simple View of Reading theory and its application to reading instruction for young English learners (ELs) whose native language is not English. It emphasizes two primary areas of reading instruction: word recognition and language comprehension. It also highlights the importance of developing phonological awareness, which involves perceiving sounds in oral language and identifying discrete sounds in spoken words. |
