Abstrakt: The article offer an economic perspective on factors that shape the market for news, including the value of intermediaries, in the age of digitization. Topics include value and impact of search, aggregation, technology and social media in the market considering the concepts of supply, demand and competition, political polarization and declining institutional trust, and role of royalty payments from digital platforms to publishers in altering competitive incentives for market participants.
