The article discusses how sports-related young adult texts can be used in secondary English language arts (ELA) classrooms to support students in building their sociopolitical awareness. It explores graphic memories and biographies of professional and amateur athletes. Also mentioned are text selection and analysis, critical literacy development, and sociopolitical issues such as racism, sexism and homophobia. |
