Abstrakt: A panel discussion is presented on the history surrounding the removal of the sculptures and the United Kingdom purchase of Lord Elgin's collection. It mentions that British Museum claims that when the Parliament Select Committee in 1816, investigated whether the government should purchase the collection, the British Museum claims that the select committee concluded, in no uncertain that the Ottomans gave Elgin permission to do what he did, and therefore, what he did was lawful at the time.
