This study investigates the representation of the environmental, ecological, and Climate change issues in the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan's speech in the UN General Assembly. Most researchers on political speeches study the exclusive use of pronouns where their major focus is on the analysis of „Positive Us and Negative them,', But in this study, the researcher concentrates on how Imran Khan has globalized ecological thought by using some specific discursive strategies, especiallyinclusive pronouns in his speech. The study explores, the type of lexical choices made by Imran khan to highlight his inclusive approach to environment and climate change, what discursive strategies he has devised, and how he has tried to convince the world that it is a global obligation to combat climate change and other social, ecological issues. The researcher has used Fairclough's three-dimensional model of CDA with an ecolinguistic perspective. He has discussed several other issues in the speech but this study's focus remains on the ecolinguisticperspective. The study reveals that Imran Khan has excessively used inclusive pronouns in order to induce the international community on how to combat climate change and other ecological and global issues. Moreover, Khan has used discursive strategies like; intensification, referential nomination, and prediction. He introduces himself as an environmental leader. The study can serve as a reflection of how Pakistan is dealing the environmental issues. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
