The article reflect on the contribution of historical novels and their lithographs in the works of Juan Antonio Mateos and Vicente Riva Palacio, two Republican ex-combatants who returned to their intellectual activity during the first years of the Republic, 1867-1870. It mentions the intelligentsia of the Restored Republic sought to strengthen the paradigm of liberal patriotism, as a means to make citizens aware of their rights, affiliations and national feelings. |
