Abstrakt: Joseph Smith dictated some letters, but allowed Clayton to create polished sentences that explained the prophet's message. Hannah Root Adams, of Andover, Ohio, sent four hymns in a letter to Emma Smith, hoping that she would publish them. Meanwhile, Garrett Bias, an Indiana resident, wrote on March 7, 1843, to see if Joseph Smith would purchase a collection of fifty U.S. arms that Bias had obtained after the Black Hawk War of 1832.
