The authors discuss the development of LitMakerSpace project to use the learning environment of makerspaces to help middle-grade students develop literacy skills in the classroom. Topics mentioned include the popularity of makerspaces in public and school library programming, the interplay between the engineering and writing process in the project, and the use of a time-bound workshop model with mini-lessons followed by open working time. |
