This section presents several publications and other information resources about the speech communication discipline available in the U.S. as of December 1, 1981. Beginning Readers Theatre: A Primer for Classroom Performance by Gerald Lee Ratliff, is a new ERIC/RCS TRIP booklet for high school and college instruction. The first section discusses the basic principles of readers theatre, techniques for selecting appropriate literature, and ways of staging and scripting the literature. The second section provides 19 specific classroom exercises. Mainstreaming the Non-English Speaking Student, Raymond Rodrigues and Robert White, is another recently published ERIC/RCS TRIP booklet. This 55-page booklet is designed to help teachers untrained in English as a second language or Bilingual Education Methods who have non-English speaking students in their regular classes. The discussion of second language acquisition and pedagogy applies across the curriculum and at all levels of instruction. Helping the Reticent Student is a Module bibliography recently revised by Nancy J. Metzger, DePauw University, Indiana, for elementary/secondary/college teachers interested in identifying and instructing reticent students. |
