Multicomponent fibers are manmade fibers made from two or more polymers of dissimilar chemical and/or physical structure, extruded from a common spinneret to form a single filament structure. Multicomponent yarn which is composed of a core of mono or multifilament making up 10-60 %, a polymer intermediate layer 20 - 50 % and staple fiber surrounded in the intermediate layer to provide a covering layer and making up 30 - 60 % produced through Bobtex spinning technology. Multicomponent yarn is also produced in friction spinning systems. Multicomponent fabrics are made from two or more textile fabrics joined into another fabric structure. Familiar Multicomponent fabrics in this group include quilted, bonded, and laminated fabrics. A multicomponent textile usually gives specific structure and properties. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
