| Abstrakt: | The article explores the threats to small organic farmers in the U.S. Veteran organic watchdog Mark Kastel points out the acquisition of organic brand names by multinational agribusiness. It describes the power politics in the National Organic Program in light of the refusal of the agriculture secretary to begin rulemaking to address gaps in organic enforcement. Also noted is the effect of the decision to use third-party inspectors to certify organic farm operations. |
