Abstrakt:	The article explores the life of the ancient Egyptian soldier and military force was composed of members of different militias under the control of local leaders or nomarchs. It mentions concept of a ‘standing army' under Pharaoh's direct control did not become a reality until the Middle Kingdom, under the Twelfth Dynasty ruler Amenemhat I. It also mentions Middle Kingdom, there were a number of professional ‘elite' soldiers who saw an opportunity for wealth and social advancement.
