It includes descriptive metadata with as much content description as possible, technical metadata for the analog originals and the digital file, and administrative metadata that captures the analog source information, rights, and digital file instantiations locations. Digital files are managed by file naming conventions and file directory structures in our databases and local RAID network, in the absence of a central digital asset management system. Built on a Mac platform, it was designed to handle the process of videotape digitization including file creation and editing, file management, and local storage without the need to use and adversely impact the institute's network due to the large files generated. The California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) Library and Digital Bedrock's founder Linda Tadic have a long history of working together on issues of digital preservation and other aspects of preserving the Library's Moving Image Collections.
