Surveys of LGBTQ students report 60- 80% of them face some form of harassment or discrimination, with little protection from school administrators. Now in the 2020s, those 1970s LGBTQ activists are our elders, and we're witnessing second generation of children of gay and lesbian parents attending Pride Parades. I didn't grow up anti-gay, rather outside of Jack McPhee's coming out storyline on Dawson's Creek, and other scant media representation, openly LGBTQ people and events weren't a part of my everyday life, especially Gay Pride parades and activists.
