Sialadenoma papilliferum (SP) is a rare benign tumor, <1% of minor salivary grand tumors. Since the first report of SP, only 63 cases have been reported in the literature. The purpose of this article is to report a new case of SP of the hard palate occurring in an 83-year-old female. Microscopic examination (Hematoxylin and Eosin staining) showed a salivary gland tumor with biphasic proliferation of papillary stratified squamous and salivary ductal epithelia. We suspected the mucoepidermoid carcinoma. Then, we tried to special staining and immunohistochemical staining. The features were consistent with SP. The special staining and immunohistochemical staining is important to select the appropriate treatment and to prevent over treatment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
