Abstrakt: Developing a Virtual Adaptive Sports Program in Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic Self-reported prevalence estimates have shown that individuals with disabilities comprise 15%-20% of the global population, representing over one billion people.1 Domestically, it is estimated that 53 million Americans are individuals with disability.2 Given that people with disabilities represent a large portion of the adult population, there has been significant focus on promoting physical activity to reduce the detrimental health impact of sedentary lifestyles and associated chronic disease. Workflow for preparation, set-up, and implementation of a virtual adaptive sports program. gl Prior to program implementation, it was essential to assess which traditional adaptive sport programs translated well to virtual offerings. It is imperative that programs implement a registration process that captures basic health information about the participant, including contact information, background disability, and any potential health complications that staff should be aware of prior to participation (eg, history of cardiac disease, history of frequent seizures).
