On an overcast, early spring day, a raptor as gray as the cloudy sky careened through my yard, scattering the house finches and mourning doves huddled around my bird feeders. On the very next day I saw a Cooper's hawk again - presumably the same bird as the day before - in the vicinity of an old, sloppy, unused crow nest - or what I thought was an old crow nest. Sure, hawks flew over the property almost daily, and a pair of red-shouldered hawks nested less than a mile away. [Extracted from the article] |
